Debrecen.(H) A Chinese company is building a battery factory near Debrecen with an investment of three thousand billion forints. According to the government, this will be Hungary’s largest ever investment. The new factory can serve German car factories and will employ nearly 9 thousand people. The danger is that diseases will develop in the factory, the new “sepsis!”
A serious failure of Li-ion batteries can lead to heat generation to such an extent that it causes a so-called thermal runaway. During this, extremely intense combustion takes place in one or more cells, which is accompanied by a piercing flame erupting from the battery, the emission of toxic and flammable gases and intense self-sustaining combustion, which is very difficult to control.
VirginiaTech researchers have developed a glucose-based battery that lasts much longer than the currently widespread lithium-ion batteries. Sugar, or more precisely glucose, is an excellent source of energy, and plants and animals easily convert it into energy. However, it should not be forgotten that if these types of batteries become widespread, it could cause sugar prices to rise. This would badly affect less developed regions, causing basic food prices to rise.
